CIMARRON – Geraldine M. Benton, 87, died Friday, March 30, 2012 at the Shepherd’s Center, Cimarron.
She was born January 1, 1925 in Wichita, Kansas, the daughter of Clarence J. and Rose Crawford Kerr. A lifetime area resident and a 1943 graduate of Cimarron High School, she was homemaker, farmer and stockman. She enjoyed crocheting and making afghans.
She was a member of the Cimarron United Methodist Church and Rebecca Lodge #504 both of Cimarron.
On November 2, 1948, she married Clifford D. “Tiny” Benton at Cimarron, Kansas. He preceded her in death on November 2, 1990.
Survivors include: 2 sons, Gilbert Benton and wife Beverly, Cimarron and Erle Benton and wife Michelle, Overland Park, Kansas; a sister-in-law, Lois Kerr, Cimarron; 5 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Gerald Kerr and Clarence Kerr, Jr.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 am Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at the Cimarron United Methodist Church with Rev. Mike Keating presiding. Friends may call from Noon to 8:00 pm Monday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Cimarron. The casket will remain closed. Burial will be in the Cimarron Cemetery.
